Thirteen Young People from Platfontein have completed a six-month intensive Skills Empowerment Training
at the Hilltop Empowerment Centre in the Eastern Cape.
They learnt computer literacy, support & repair, English, business skills, agriculture, animal husbandry,
health, communication training,  …
Now back at Platfontein they are able to start several small businesses and industries,
strongly backed by their leadership.

The Platfontein Youth Empowerment was initiated 2012 by people from South Africa (Letlapa Mphahlele and others) and Switzerland.
Meanwhile more people from South Africa and from all over the world that have joined in for Platfontein with time and funding:
– October 2013: A team (South Africa, Switzerland, Germany) facilitated a 4-weeks workshop with computer and health skills
– September 2014: during a whole week of charity events (incl. a 2-h-run) thousands of Swiss donors
…collected funding for the Vocational Skills Empowerment Training of the young ones

…and their Team of coaches showed an outstanding engagement
…in making the training happen and providing the young ones with opportunities they would never have dreamed of.
…In return their achievements were beyond expectations!
– September – October 2015: Hilltop Empowerment Centre is supporting the young ones since they returned home to Platfontein.
…The Young Ones have built the new computer training, repair & service centre.
…The first Computer Training courses can start – some of the young ones will be trainers
…The leadership has helped prepare the ground for successful implementation of the learned skills.
– 12 November 2015: Graduation ceremony and opening of the new computer centre with local dignitaries and international guests
